5 Things I'm Loving

#1.  This amazing article about Marilyn Monroe by Simon Doonan. I love learning that she had more first edition books than clothes. I've always loved the more candid photos of her completely lost in books. In fact, check out more about her book collection here. Wow, I just kind of lost myself for awhile on that site looking at all of her belongings.

#2. I am completely obsessed with lip balms. It really is an addiction for me. I just collected by Sephora VIB Birthday Gift which was the Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment and am in lurve! My lips are so smooth and it smells amazing. I got a cute little trial size of both the regular and the rose!

 

#3. I was chatting with the lovely Danielle on twitter about great ways to use up her glitter stash and I remembered watching this amazing tutorial on the Martha Show about Glitter Wall Art. I'm determined to make at least one of these beauties this year!

#4. This swoonworthy dress from Wallis. Why do I feel like all the British shops get the best looking clothes? I think this would be a very welcome addition to my closet. Ooh, and it's on Sale!

#5. I love some seamed stockings and this blog tells you how to make your own seamed stockings!! Have any of you ever tried this? It looks amazing.

I've got my cat-eyes on you

I love a great pair of cat-eye frames. In fact, I love quite a few pairs. I'm the proud owner of a few of my own that I found at Fabulous Fannies in NYC. I make a point of going there every time I visit NYC, which is nowhere near enough in my book.

Why I love the Vermont Country Store

Oh my vintage loving lovelies do I have some excting news for you. Guess what I found today at my beloved Vermont Country Store?

By the way, if you don't know about them already you really should check out all of their goodies. I've gotten so many wonderful vintage reissue things from them. One of my favorite things is reading the Customer Comments for each of the products. They are filled with comments from ladies reminising about their husband proposing to them while they wore this perfume, or their mother using this hairbrush. It's actually very very sweet.

 

Here's an example:

"When I was little my mom always had a beautiful blue bottle of the most wonderful-smelling aroma I had ever smelled on her dressing table. Later I found out it was Evening in Paris parfum. She only wore it on very special occasions, as being a preacher's wife, such luxuries were considered too much for a pastor's wife to have. Dad bought it for her anyway out of the money he made working his other job as a welder for a sign company. He always gave mom what she wanted, which was never much, so when she did want something, he always found a way to get it. Evening in Paris parfum was one of those wants, but she treasured it greatly. When it was no longer available she was heartbroken. I always said if I ever found it again, I would get it for her. Do you fly Pan Am?

Have you been watching Pan Am? I've had all the episodes stacking up on my DVR and finally sat down to watch them all. I think it's a cute little frothy show. It's fun to watch and the characters are pretty likeable. The styling is definitely not on par with my beloved Mad Men but it's still fun to look at. They seem to be using lots of reproduction dresses from brands like Stop Staring. I've spotted at least four that I know of. My favorite, of course, was the Leopard Print trim dress worn at the beginning of Episode 5.
